Ideally, everyone would spend 8 hours each day sleeping. However many of us have extremely stressful jobs and do not have that amount of time to spend in bed. The little time we do spend in bed should be a comfortable experience and leave you feeling well rested. Therefore, we have compiled some useful tips to follow when buying a bed.
Decide on your preferred size
If you have limited space, you may wish to purchase a larger sized bed, however this may not be ideal given the lack of space available. Therefore the size of your room is one factor to consider. One point to consider is whether you'll be sleeping alone, in which any size bed will work or will you be sharing the bed, in which case, you could choose a double or king size, or even have a bed made to measure to your own specifications.
As with most things, the price of a bed set does not necessarily tell you how good a product it is or how comfortable you will be sleeping on the bed. Beds are priced from several hundreds of pounds to thousands. There are currently many sellers of memory foam mattresses that are imported from China, these products are known for their poor quality and short lifespan. Always be weary of cheap imports.
The Depth of the Mattress
In an effort to add more comfort and a softer sleep surface, manufacturers typically add more foam and padding to the memory foam mattresses. Before you purchase any bed sheets, measure your memory mattress so you get the right depth of sheets, mattress toppers etc. Memory foam mattresses generally are equipped with a removable cover these covers are cleanable, thereby protecting the foam mattress from stains and spillages etc.
Firmness to suit your preferred sleeping experience
Firmness of a mattress is a very subjective issue. Some people prefer a softer sleeping surface whilst others may enjoy sleeping on a firm one. One thing that is paramount is the level of support and comfort that is offered by the bed. If you sleep with someone who prefers a differing sleep surface, then one solution to this problem would be, push two twin beds together to create a two toned mattress, using a firm single memory foam mattress on one side of the bed and on the other side to use a softer foam memory mattress.
